In the world of industrial automation, control cabinets are the backbone of efficient and effective production processes. At Gerbin Control, we understand the critical role these systems play in your operations. That’s why we design and build custom switchboards that not only meet your current requirements, but also grow with your ambitions.
Where the control cabinet used to be purely a switching point, today it is a smart data platform. Thanks to Internet of Things (IoT) technology and integration with SCADA systems, our solutions provide continuous insight into performance, energy consumption and maintenance needs. This gives machine builders and production managers the ability to proactively manage and minimize downtime.

From traditional switchboard to smart data platform
Traditional control cabinets were mostly filled with relays, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and basic wiring. Today, the architecture is much more sophisticated. A modern IoT control cabinet from Gerbin Control includes industrial sensors for temperature, vibration and energy consumption, combined with edge controllers and powerful IoT modules such as our own MECODO IoT solutions.
We work with high-quality enclosures such as Rittal AE and VX switchgear cabinets or IP65 compact switchgear cabinets made of sheet steel, equipped with wall mounting brackets, profile rails and safe cable glands for watertight penetration. These enclosures are robust, meet UL / CSA certification, CE standards and where necessary ATEX directives, making them usable in demanding sectors such as marine, offshore and oil & gas.

Communication protocols and integration
A smart panel is only truly valuable if it communicates effortlessly with the rest of your plant. That’s why our solutions support open industry standards such as Profinet, OPC UA and MQTT. OPC UA enables secure, structured data exchange between machines and SCADA, while MQTT is ideal for fast, lightweight communication with cloud platforms or mobile devices.
These protocols allow a control box to easily interface with embedded web servers, WiFi modules or even a Raspberry Pi for local dashboards and IoT monitoring. This gives you the freedom to view production data on a smartphone, via a touch screen or from your central control room.
Case study: powder coating line with measurable results
A customer in the powder coating industry was looking for more insight into their production line and energy consumption. Gerbin Control designed a PLC control cabinet with integrated OPC UA and MQTT communications, built into an IP55cabinet with high-quality components from Siemens and Wago, among others.
This solution allowed production managers to watch live views of core KPIs such as OEE, downtime and energy consumption. The result:
- OEE improvement of 12% in six months
- Energy consumption reduced by 8% through automatic standby modes
- Maintenance costs Reduced by 15% through predictive maintenance
- This project illustrates how a well-designed electrical panel not only collects data, but converts it into concrete, measurable improvements to the work process.
